"These debates are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates. It's pretty hard to be able to sit and lay out your ideas and your concepts with a one-minute response," the Texas governor told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. "So, you know, if there was a mistake made, it was probably ever doing one of the [debates], when all they're interested in is stirring up between the candidates instead of really talking about the issues that are important to the American people."

I, for one would never vote for a candidate that can't stand up before people and speak his mind. You've always gotten by parroting what the 'right' people think, and waiting for their money to sell you like a box of soap. Hopefully Dubya ruined that act for a while.

I read the Texas Monthly editorial this morning excreted by Mim Schwartz instead of the corpulant Paul Burka. Someone, who is a mystery, has been sending a subscription to this for the last 20 years - I don't know why. But is has been nice keeping up with bar-b-que best-lists, and what have you.
Mimi is usually better at writing about other things than politics, and it shows. She says that Perry isn't really mentally retarded (and for that matter, the rest of Texas for electing the longest serving simian in history) as apparent to the embarrassed nation. No, Perry's problem with saying words in a pattern that adds up to a coherent idea, like, "I've just pooped my pants," isn't his fault, writes the doting Mimi, it's the fault of....get this..no, wait....
